Many will recall the oft cited ruling by Judge Jones in the infamous Kitzmiller case. Indeed Jones has been running all over the place with speaking engagements due to his new found celebrity status. Not that there’s anything wrong with that per se, but is it deserved? According to a a report just released by the Discovery Institute, by John West and David DeWolf, it appears that Jones “borrowed” heavily from some ACLU briefs in his discussion of why ID isn’t science.
I was an atheist, brainwashed by the establishment, into my 40s. I got a triple dose of indoctrination: from the public schools, from the secular environment in which I grew up (a small college town, surrounded by intellectual university types), and from the university itself. There was no doubt in my mind that God was a human fabrication and that we were the product of purposeless Darwinian mechanisms. In retrospect, however, I realize that I accepted these conclusions completely uncritically, which is ironic, because educated intellectual types supposedly take pride in critical thinking.
It says in the book of Revelation, “The Lamb that was slain before the foundation of the world.” The greatest crime and tragedy was ordained even before the foundation of the world, yet through it would unfold the greatest story ever told. It was all intelligently and wisely designed like the masterpieces of the great composers.
It is not a well-known fact, but the pilot who led the attack by the Japanese on Pearl Harbor, 55 years ago today, eventually became an Evangelical Christian. See: From Pearl Harbor to Calvary. Such changed lives are the product of intelligent design, not random Darwinian processes.
I discovered through mutual acquaintances that Francis Collins attends a church that is part of the creationist-leaning Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC). The EPC considered even more conservative than Presbyterian Church of Amercia (PCA) of which I and Dave Snoke are members. I actually attend EPC churches on my frequent business trips to Mississippi. I pray brother Collins will one day see the light. He belongs with us creationists, not the Darwinists. He is thankfully fellow-shipping with the right guys. May the Lord open his eyes.
